The Rajasthan state government has taken an important step towards combating the malnutrition among the school children with the launch of the Bal Gopal Yojana This initiative was introduced in response to the growing issues like anaemia and malnutrition, which are prevalent among students in rural areas and government schools. The primary cause of these health problems is a lack of access to nutrient-rich food, leading to undernourishment. This initiative is aimed at improving the health and well-being of children and ensuring they receive important for their growth and development.
On November 29, 2022 Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot launched the Bal Gopal Yojana alongside a free uniform distributing scheme. This program focuses on providing essential nutrition to the students in grade 1 to 8 in government schools. Midday meals are supplemented with powdered milk which will be distributed twice a week on Tuesday and Friday in government schools, madarsas, as well as special training center.
The objective of Chief Minister Bal Gopal Yojana
The Mukhyamantri Bal Gopal Yojana launched by the Rajasthan government aims to provide nutritious diet to young children, particular those suffering from malnutrition due to poverty. Benefits and Features of Bal Gopal Yojana
The Bal Gopal Yojana, introduced by chief minister in the 2022-2023 budget, aims to provide milk twice a week to students in government schools, madrasa, and special training centers under the Mid-Day Meal Scheme. Milk will be distributed every Tuesday and Friday, sourced by the Rajasthan Co-operation Dairy Federation (RCDF) and if a holiday come on these days, the milk will be provided on the next day.
Students in grades 1-5 will receive 150 ml of milk (15 gram of milk powder) and those in grade 6-8 will receive 200 ml (20 gram of milk powder). This initiative targets physical and mental growth of 6.56 lakhs children and aim to increase school enrollment. starting 1 July 2023 students will receive milk six days a week. Additionally, Rs. 40 will be provided to each student to purchase a glass of milk.

Eligibility for Chief Minister Bal Gopal Yojana
- All the boys and girls who are enrolled in elementary schools, madrassas, and designated government institutions that benefit from the Mid Day Meal Scheme are eligible for the Mukhyamantri Bal Gopal Yojana.
- The Mukhyamantri Bal Gopal Yojana would benefit all Rajasthan state government school children in classes 01 through 8.
Documents of Chief Minister Bal Gopal Yojana
This program does not require any documents from the candidates. All the students learning in government schools from class 1 to 8 are totally eligible to get the benefit.
Other Necessary Arrangements
Utensils: Schools will receive stainless steel pots (20, 30, and 40 liters) based on student’s enrollment, along with a 20-liter tank, jug and other necessary items for milk preparation. A maximum of Rs. 15,000 is allocated for these purchases.
Glasses: Schools will be given Rs. 40 per students to buy glasses for milk distribution. All purchases must comply with the Rajasthan Public Procurement Transparency Act, 2012.
Fuel Arrangement: Schools will receive a Rs. 1,500 monthly allowances for fuel cost to heat the milk. Any schools without gas cylinders and stoves will be provided with these items immediately.
Milk Preparation and Serving: Schools can hire a person to prepare, heat and serve the milk, along with the cleaning utensils for which they will receive Rs. 500 per month from the SMC.
